MARFs NEED MEAT!

p.s if you don’t have Marfans syndrome still important info you need to create your fascia, muscle, ligaments and skeleton.

Sorry to my vegetarians but we need the easiest way to create collagen, fish to beef.  I’ll explain exactly why in next email…..cliffhanger lol

Sorry just so much to pack in this one already!

So first tips on what meat you eat…

I like to look at your blood type to determine what meats will create the least amount of inflammatory cytokines.  Beef grassfed remember is equal to fish for omega 3!

For those of us with Marfan’s syndrome we need meat to meet the needs of our collagen breakdown!!

Our specific breakdown is accelerated by an overactive TGF-β enzyme. This enzyme drives tissue remodeling —I like to believe that with the right building blocks,  We can influence the tendency to rebuild and remodel with weak scar tissue rather than strong, resilient connective tissue!!

4 things I’m convinced we can do to slow this down and stay strong (but not all is yet fully researched for Marfan patients, but are true for the majority of the other bodies…but seriously who’s normal???

WE CAN:

  1. Flood ourselves with the best nutrients we need to create the damaged tissues easily.
  2. Slow down the damn TGF beta enzyme that tells our body to break down this great tissue and slow the cycle of self destruction! More on that below and in my writings dramandalynn.com
  3. Energy Quantum healing but that’s another book
  4. Stem cells worked great for me and many patients, just wish I could have had them injected into my heart!! Can’t get stem cells Platelet Rich Plasma injections could be beneficial.

💪 Here’s where nutrient-dense proteins — especially meat — play a vital role.
Meat provides the amino acids (glycine, proline, lysine) and minerals (zinc, copper, iron) needed to build collagen types I, II, and III, the key structural forms for:
✨ Type I: Arteries, tendons, ligaments, and skin
✨ Type II: Cartilage and joint cushioning
✨ Type III: Vessel walls and soft tissue integrity

ALL our bodies require it to rebuild arterial walls, strengthen ligaments, and repair connective tissue more effectively — Best form to assimilate? Animal Meat

🥩 Top foods to support collagen synthesis:

  • Grass-fed beef, lamb, and organ meats
  • Bone broth or slow-cooked stews
  • Wild-caught fish (rich in glycine)
  • Eggs (for sulfur + collagen co-factors)
  • Vitamin C–rich produce (citrus, peppers, berries) to activate collagen enzymes

When we nourish deeply at the cellular level, we give our tissues the raw materials they need to rebuild stronger — not just patch up damage.

Studies on us Marfs… well that’s pretty limited….;(  so we extrapolate a bit…

Science supports the idea that giving the body the right building blocks (amino acids, vitamin C, trace minerals, dietary protein or collagen peptides) can increase collagen synthesis and improve some measures of connective-tissue repair. But it’s important to be honest: most of the evidence is mechanistic / preclinical or small clinical trials (positive and biologically plausible), and there’s not strong direct evidence yet that dietary changes alone prevent aortic aneurysms in Marfan-type conditions. Also, TGF-β modulation is biologically powerful but complicated — some hop-derived compounds show TGF-β effects in labs, but clinical use/long-term safety is not established yet…BUT I TAKE IT!  Ps Metagenics Osteovantix i take winkwink

BEST NUTRIENTS FOR COLLAGEN CREATION DEEP DIVE

  • Glycine, proline and lysine are limiting amino acids for procollagen formation; increasing them raises collagen synthesis in lab models and supports cartilage/connective tissue repair. PMC+1
  • Vitamin C is essential as a cofactor for prolyl/lysyl hydroxylases; adequate vitamin C increases type I collagen production and helps wound/bone healing. That’s why scurvy causes connective-tissue failure. PMC+1
  • Collagen peptides / gelatin + vitamin C in human trials increased markers of collagen synthesis and improved measurable outcomes in tendon/joint studies (small but consistent signals). ScienceDirect+1
  • Dietary protein (meat, organ meat, fish, eggs) reliably raises plasma amino acids (including glycine/proline precursors) and supports general protein/collagen turnover — an important practical way to ensure substrates are available. PMC+1
  • TGF-β modulation: some natural compounds derived from hops (e.g., xanthohumol and other hop extracts) show anti-fibrotic/TGF-β suppressing activity in cell and animal studies and there are patents and extracts developed for related bioactivity — promising, but mostly preclinical so far. PMC+1
  •  You find out more on this in my ebook and emails that come with it Dramandalynn.com

When we supply the biochemical substrates the body needs, collagen production increases. Work in cells and animals — and multiple human feeding/supplement studies — show that:

  • Glycine, proline and lysine are limiting amino acids for procollagen formation; increasing them raises collagen synthesis in lab models and supports cartilage/connective tissue repair. PMC+1
  • Vitamin C is essential as a cofactor for prolyl/lysyl hydroxylases; adequate vitamin C increases type I collagen production and helps wound/bone healing. That’s why scurvy causes connective-tissue failure. PMC+1
  • Collagen peptides / gelatin + vitamin C in human trials increased markers of collagen synthesis and improved measurable outcomes in tendon/joint studies (small but consistent signals). ScienceDirect+1
  • Dietary protein (meat, organ meat, fish, eggs) reliably raises plasma amino acids (including glycine/proline precursors) and supports general protein/collagen turnover — an important practical way to ensure substrates are available. PMC+1
  • TGF-β modulation: FOR MARFAN’s patients only some natural compounds derived from hops (e.g., xanthohumol and other hop extracts) show anti-fibrotic/TGF-β suppressing activity in cell and animal studies and there are patents and extracts developed for related bioactivity — promising, but mostly preclinical so far. PMC+1
  • De Paz-Lugo P et al., “High glycine concentration increases collagen synthesis…” (cell work + discussion on glycine/proline/lysine). PMC
  • DePhillipo NN et al., review on vitamin C and collagen/bone healing. PMC
  • Shaw G. Vitamin C–enriched gelatin supplementation increases collagen synthesis (human trial showing improved collagen production with gelatin + vitamin C). ScienceDirect
  • Khatri M et al., systematic review/meta on collagen peptide supplementation and outcomes. PMC+1
  • Jiang C. et al., “Xanthohumol inhibits TGF-β1-induced cardiac fibroblast activation” (preclinical evidence hops-derived molecule can modulate TGF-β pathways). Plus patents/extract literature for hops. PMC+1

Bottom line: giving the body amino acids (from collagen, gelatin, or protein-rich foods), vitamin C, and trace minerals provides the substrates and cofactors for making stronger collagen. That biological effect is supported by lab and small human studies. Whether this definitively prevents disease-specific outcomes (like aortic aneurysm progression in Marfan’s) is not yet proven — but it’s a low-risk, rational part of a broader plan

“Collagen isn’t magic — it’s chemistry. When we give the body the right raw materials (glycine, proline, lysine, vitamin C, zinc/copper and quality protein), collagen production goes up and tissue repair improves in lab and small human studies. Some hop-derived compounds also show TGF-β-modulating activity in preclinical work — promising for people with overactive TGF-β signalling — but clinical evidence is still limited. Nutrition is a powerful, evidence-backed tool to help support stronger arteries, ligaments and skin, but it should be paired with medical care for Marfan/EDS. • Include vitamin-C rich foods with protein (e.g., citrus + beef stew or berry smoothie with collagen). PMC
  • Use a mix: whole-food protein (meat, fish, eggs) + occasional collagen peptides or gelatin + vitamin C. PMC+1
  • Consider bone broth or collagen hydrolysate if you prefer — evidence is mixed but they supply amino acids. PubMed+1
  • Talk to your cardiologist/MD about disease-specific treatments (e.g., ARBs like losartan have been studied for Marfan’s) before relying on nutrition alone.

  1. De Paz-Lugo P et al., “High glycine concentration increases collagen synthesis…” (cell work + discussion on glycine/proline/lysine). PMC
  2. DePhillipo NN et al., review on vitamin C and collagen/bone healing. PMC
  3. Shaw G. Vitamin C–enriched gelatin supplementation increases collagen synthesis (human trial showing improved collagen production with gelatin + vitamin C). ScienceDirect
  4. Khatri M et al., systematic review/meta on collagen peptide supplementation and outcomes. PMC+1
  5. Jiang C. et al., “Xanthohumol inhibits TGF-β1-induced cardiac fibroblast activation” (preclinical evidence hops-derived molecule can modulate TGF-β pathways). Plus patents/extract literature for hops. PMC+1
